We’ve had Cronuts - croissant-donut and we’ve had Cruffins -a croissant-muffin hybrid.
PLEASE LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO THE PRONUT
Well, they’re donuts with protein so I am calling them Pronuts! Why not?!
I have been making raw donuts for a while now and absolutely love them. All sorts of flavours have appeared on my Instagram page, and more will come no doubt. These Pronuts came about when I won a fantastic giveaway on Instagram including Jimmy Blacks Black Bean Powder – a protein rich powder I have actually been using for over a year and is my favourite protein to use. As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m not a fan of regular protein powders due to the list of ingredients or the texture/flavour. But I love this powder, the only ingredient is 100% organic black beans! Right up my alley. No sugar, no preservatives, just what it says in the name. Along with the other prizes (Nopal Cactus powder, Golden Grind Turmeric blend and Made with Raw Love handmade raw chocolate)
I CREATED A SMOOTHIE BOWL INSPIRED BY THE PINCUSHION CACTUS WHEN IT'S IN FLOWER.
I figured since I didn’t actually do anything to win the prize other than like a few photos and follow the accounts – some of which I was already following – the least I could do is make something inspired by by these wonderful ingredients.
And what fun it was! I made a green smoothie filled with all the usual suspects and the Nopal Cactus powder, this was topped with some delicious coconut yoghurt with the Golden Grind turmeric blend mixed through, then topped with a Pronut, and black sesame seeds sprinkled over to represent the spikes. And of course frozen raspberries for the flowers! We can't go without commenting on how beautiful the Made with Raw Love chocolate is though - just look at those gorgeous squares of love!
Anyway, enough! If you want to check out the end result, please have a look on Instagram! In the meantime, here is the recipe for my Pronuts.
1 cup almond meal
1 tbsp Jimmy Blacks Black Bean powder
2 tsp cacao
2 squares Made with Raw Love chocolate grated
4 dates soaked in warm water
1 tsp organic peanut butter
Generous pinch of vanilla salt
Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
Press into silicon donut moulds – for this recipe I used mini moulds
