Rose Hand Scrub

Quite a few years ago I was given a hand scrub as a gift

I loved the idea of it, as I've always felt I have old lady hands.

The skin on the back of our hands is so thin, and the lines on my hands are quite prominent so when the skin is dry, they look extremely dry.

The scrub not only removed the dead skin cells via the salt, but also contains moisturising oils. My skin was smooth and soft the moment I used the scrub, and this result was long lasting. Using it daily meant my hands were constantly in good condition and it also seemed to have a good effect on my nails.

But I didn't love the ingredients of the one I was given. I couldn't seem to find anything similar on the market, let alone something that was completely natural.

Even now, there are not many, if any, salt hand scrubs on the market.

So, I decided to recreate it

However, I wanted not only to create a moisturising scrub, I wanted my hand scrub to provide deeper benefits, especially to those who most often have to avoid beauty products due to sensitive skin.

After playing around with a number of base oils and essential oils, this scrub is exactly as I wanted it to look, feel and, just as importantly be made of really good natural ingredients.

The ingredients have been chosen to provide the best possible benefits to your skin, whilst providing relief and repair to those who suffer from conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

We don't often think about how much we use and abuse our hands each day.

They are our best tool, there's very few things we can do without using our hands.

And how do we reward them? With constant washing, exposing them to heat in the kitchen, the elements outdoors, banging them, straining them, using them for our jobs.

Even though I use natural soap, when our dogs first came to stay I was amazed how dry my hands were getting from washing them all the time.

The Rose Hand Scrub was a lifesaver!

Why is it so good you ask? Take a look at these ingredients:

Apricot Kernel Oil

Apricot kernel oiI has a multitude of benefits. It's an excellent moisturiser, it has a wonderful ability to repair dry damaged skin, it is an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging. Apricot kernel oil also has antiseptic properties which helps reduce the risk of infection in open wounds. It is high in antioxidants which helps prevent the skin from damage by free radicals. Being such a fine oil, Apricot kernel oil is absorbed readily into the skin which explains the immediate results of using this Rose Hand Scrub. It is also a great carrier oil as it mixes so well with many essential oils.

Carrot Seed Oil

Carrot Seed Oil is also high in antioxidants, which help protect your skin from wrinkles and keeps the skin looking youthful as it helps stimulate cell renewal. Carrot Seed Oil is excellent for detoxifying the skin and helping repair damage caused by eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. It is also an anti-fungal.

Because Carrot Seed Oil also helps regulate the menstrual cycle, it should be avoided during pregnancy, as should most essential oils unless you speak with your medical practitioner to gain advice first.

Pomegranate Oil

This beautiful oil also helps stimulate cell production, working on the outer layers of the skin. This helps to reverse skin damage, refresh the skin and reveal the more youthful skin beneath. Pomegranate Oil contains punicic acid, an omega 5 fatty acid which is high in anti-inflammatory properties. This also is a benefit to those who suffer from psoriasis and eczema, as it heals the skin from damage and restores the health of the skin. The excellent antioxidant properties of Pomegranate Oil help the body produce collagen, thereby plumping the skin.

Rose and Rosemary Essential Oils

Rose Essential Oil has been used throughout history as a beauty as it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has the added benefits of increasing absorption of other oils it is mixed with, enabling the oils to penetrate into the skin more readily. The nutrients in Rosemary Essential Oil may help protect the skin from free radical damage and increases the skin's elasticity.

Besides the ingredients, I also find the act of using a scrub to be highly beneficial. Taking a few minutes to massage your hands, treat them with kindness has a wonderful grounding effect.

The best way to use the Rose Hand Scrub

  • Wet hands thoroughly, then place a small 10c piece size onto the back of one hand.
  • Rub the backs of your hands together, to start the salt moving then rub the salt and oils into your hands all over, front and back.
  • Rinse the salt off your hands and pat them lightly dry, keeping as much of the oils on your skin until it absorbs in.
  • This Rose Hand Scrub is also wonderful to use on your feet - although remember to take care not to slip once you've used it!

The natural salt in this scrub is also highly beneficial to those in the healing industry.

Whether you are a masseur, a kinesiologist, a reflexologist or in fact any healer, this scrub helps cleanse and restore your energy between clients.

Each Rose Hand Scrub is individually made in its own jar which guarantees quality and attention to detail.

This scrub is not made in large batches and portioned out into the jars, it is "pot set" so that each jar of Rose Hand Scrub has the exact same amount of each ingredient.
